Today’s underrated scene comes from the blockbuster movie “The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure” starring Kang HaNeul, Han HyoJoo, Chae SooBin, EXO’s SeHun, Lee KwangSoo, and Kwon SangWoo. Currently ranked the 3rd most popular movie on Netflix worldwide, “The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure” is like a shot of adrenaline that makes you feel alive. While the overarching plot is larger than life, the beauty of the movie is in the little details. Spoiler Alert! Two characters that we could not get enough of in the story were HaeGeum and HanGoong, played by Chae SooBin, and EXO’s SeHun respectively. HaeGeum is a con artist cosplaying as the last Princess of Goryeo whereas HanGoong is a mysterious archer on board HaeRang’s pirate ship. HaeRang, played by Han HyoJoo, brings HaeGeum over from Byeokrando to make her a part of the crew and so the adventures begin.Right from the moment HaeGeum sets her eyes on HanGoong, she is smitten. With her playful and innocent personality, she doesn’t try to hide her crush either. HanGoong on the other hand, couldn’t be less disinterested (or so he makes it seem). Not only is this couple visually stunning but also, throughout the movie, their interactions serve as much-needed comic relief. HaeGeum clings on to HanGoong whenever she can (at times, even quite literally) while he dismisses her heart-eyes indifferently. However, like the classic tsundere he is, he deeply cares about HaeGeum and would go to any lengths to protect her.In the final moments of the movie, when all is said and done, the treasure secured and our characters safe, HanGoong spots HaeGeum lying unconscious on the seashore. Without a second thought, he dives into the water to rescue her. Fortunately, she’s alive and relatively without injury. Back on deck, the two share a warm embrace of love and relief. There’s a sense of “nothing matters except for you” to this couple that is as swoon-worthy as their visuals. SeHun’s stage duality translates effortlessly on the silver screen and the fact that he is such a natural actor amplifies the impact of his character. Chae SooBin is phenomenal, as always, being the powerhouse of talent she is and her comedic timing, in particular, is simply impeccable. Needless to say, we’re living for this “happily-ever-after” and we cannot help but wish for a spin-off for these cuties. What was your favourite scene from “The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure”?
