Concept
BM’s music video for ‘Broken Me’ is produced by Vive Studios, a brand new company that boasts of being South Korea’s first virtual production solution, pioneering the age of special effects and virtual reality in the world of entertainment. Musically, it is produced by 8PEX, a group of talented songwriters and producers, of which BM is a proud member. When it comes to concept, BM shared that he intended to give his inner conflicts and struggles a tangible form through his music. It also happens to be the OST of a short film by Vive Studios, featuring actor the “Penthouse: War In Life” actor Park EunSeok called “A Brave New World”. The short film is a perfect fit as the backdrop of the song and likewise, the song is the perfect OST for the film. Angst, pain, desperation and hopelessness prevail throughout the track. The atmosphere is dark and heavy but BM shines bright alongside an array of neon lights. Fashion & Appearance
BM goes for a grunge/punk rock look in the music video for ‘Broken Me’. His eyes are lined dark and smoked out which is contrasted perfectly with his bright blonde hair. The visuals are truly no joke as BM bares both his soul and his hard-earned muscles on full display. He keeps his chains heavy, which adds to his extraordinary aura. In one particular scene of the music video, we also see him give us a clear glimpse of his tattoo on his back, which seems to be a lion with wings.
Music Video
The music video for ‘Broken Me’ is in simple words, a work of art. The unbelievable production quality, the overall aesthetic, and the impossibly breathtaking scenes that were all apparently shot on a single stationary set, make the video truly worthy of high praise. We see a few scenes from “A Brave New World” featuring Park EunSeok and some equally mesmerising parallels drawn by BM. The song is an entirely English language track on the foundation of an alt-rock beat, which is once again, perfectly fitting. There’s nothing about this song or the music video that’s out of place. BM has proven his creative mettle once again because if a solo debut needs to be made, it should definitely be made in this very way. What was your favourite part of the music video for ‘Broken Me’?
