The cast of “Doom At Your Service” is one of the most stellar collections of actors as well as a visual explosion. The director clearly put much thought into choosing the actors for his characters and there’s no doubt that he has made the perfect choices. Park BoYoung and Seo InGuk are both mutual friends with Director Kwon (the director of “Doom At Your Service”) and according to the actors themselves, they were expecting to work together sooner or later. Seo InGuk has appeared in two of Park BoYoung’s dramas in cameo roles. This includes “Oh My Ghostess” and “Abyss”. While fans did anticipate electric chemistry between the two, nothing could have made them ready for the magic that these two actors weave together.Spoiler Alert!Park BoYoung plays Tak DongKyung, an editor at a web-novel company, “Lifestory”. One not so fine day, she finds out that she has a malignant tumour in her brain and that she has 3 to 4 months to live at best if she decides to not have surgery and a year, if she does. However, considering her financial situation, there’s no way she’ll be spending tens of thousands of dollars for the surgery. Having resigned herself to her disease, she’s all but sure that she’ll pass away in a few days. However, her situation keeps getting worse. It turns out that her boyfriend was cheating on his wife with her, his wife shows up to humiliate her in public, someone shoots a video of the scene and publishes it online, DongKyung’s boss finds out about it and she takes another round of humiliation. Nothing is going right for Tak DongKyung and she can’t help but get a few drinks in her. Once she does, all her inhibitions are washed away and she yells at the sky for doom to fall upon the world that seems to be so against her. When Doom is called upon on his birthday, out of all days, when he’s supposed to be of hope to a human, he doesn’t hesitate to show up right at her doorstep. There could not have been a better actor to play Myul Mang, the end of all things, the prerequisite for creation. His incredible duality is worth high praise as he alternates between deeply disturbingly dark and scary to playful. It is worth mentioning that he isn’t having the best of times having to exist on and according to God’s will without really living. He’s constantly afflicted by humans calling for doom and the first person to understand this pain happens to be the one who summoned him with all her might, DongKyung. In the supporting cast, we have Lee SooHyuk as Cha JooIk, Shin DoHyun as Na JiNa and Kang TaeOh as Lee HyunKyu, who are entangled in a web of romance. As such, besides the very otherworldly central couple and their story, we will also have an inherently human love triangle to keep us on our toes at all times. In the first episode, we’re thrust right into the narrative without wasting any time. DongKyung and Myul Mang meet, as if by fate. He tries to convince her of his truth, that he’s Destruction personified but DongKyung is positively certain that she’s hallucinating or was just dreaming. She wants nothing to do with him and doesn’t want to enter into contracts with a man she has just met. Her reasons are understandable and of course, she never meant for the world to go to hell anyway. However, once she’s put in a life or death situation by Myul Mang, she chooses herself despite initial hesitation. In the second episode, Myul Mang is getting more and more desperate to get a wish out of her so that he can go ahead with the contract and see the world to its end. DongKyung realises that he’s in just as much of a pinch as she is. While Myul Mang comes off as egocentric and selfish, there couldn’t have been a more selfless being in existence, in this world or another and DongKyung sees right through him. What started out as a push and pull, ends with DongKyung asking Myul Mang to move in together.“Doom At Your Service” is expected to be filled with twists and turns, some painful heartbreak and one of the most iconic romances in K-Drama history, all of which make it a must-watch!
