ATEEZ’s JongHo (who plays SHAX’s Hyuk) and Park YuRi (who plays SHAX’s DoJin) are one of these duos. They have such amazing bromance chemistry on-screen that fans have even given them a couple nickname.Their nickname is ‘Taegeukgi (태극기) couple,’ because of their respective hair colors. This is because Hyuk has bright red hair, whilst DoJin had bright blue hair (he has since dyed it darker). Fans created the name because when they would stand next to each other, they looked like the South Korean flag, which is called the Taegeukgi (태극기).Since this pair has proven to be some of the funniest characters on the show, here is a list (in no particular order) of some of the most hilarious moments between SHAX’s Hyuk and DoJin.Warning: This article may contain spoilers for episodes 1-10 of “Imitation.”
1. When they became Kwon Ryuk’s love experts
When Kwon Ryuk was still unsure about his feelings for MaHa, he turned to his members and explained the situation by labeling himself as ‘B’ and MaHa as ‘A’ to keep their identities secret. Hyuk and DoJin became his love gurus as they offered him help from ‘the experts’ aka themselves. It was interesting to see this happy-g0-lucky pair advising Kwon Ryuk who takes himself very seriously. The difference in their personalities makes for these advice sessions to become comedic gold.
2. When they pretended to be Kwon Ryuk while he snuck out
DoJin and Hyuk showed their loyalty towards their team members when they covered for Kwon Ryuk after he snuck out to see MaHa. The two hid under his bed covers to make it seem as if Kwon Ryuk was asleep in bed. They kept stressing about Kwon Ryuk getting caught and texting him in a panic until they eventually got caught by their leader and gave him sheepish stares. The scene is super rushed with a sense that something bad is going to happen, but their reactions when it does are worth a giggle!
3. When they were bragging about being in a sitcom with MaHa
They asked Kwon Ryuk who he thought the character Do MaHa was in their upcoming sitcom and then bragged about how Hyuk would play her younger brother and DoJin would play her boyfriend. They were extra obnoxious about it to make Kwon Ryuk jealous. It reminds you of two little brothers teasing their older brother when they hear that he likes someone.
4. When Hyuk and DoJin couldn’t agree on their performance challenge
Hyuk really didn’t want to be paired with DoJin for the dance stage because they perform together all the time, but DoJin ended up choosing him anyways. DoJin was baffled because he thought that they would do well as a team considering that they are already close. He wanted to do the challenge as brothers. His obliviousness contrasted with Hyuk’s annoyance makes it that much funnier. In the end, DoJin didn’t like the song that Hyuk wanted them to perform because he thought it would be embarrassing to do. His denials grew stronger but he was momentarily hesitant when Hyuk brought up that the concept would add to his charm. They eventually resorted to the classic problem-solver rock-paper-scissors, but they were too in sync for either of them to win.
5. Their ‘Trouble Maker’ performance stage
Another humorous moment was when the duo performed the legendary K-Pop hit ‘Trouble Maker’ after being challenged to perform a stage to a song by a co-ed group. The performance itself was really cool and well done, but the song choice made it funny. The original song is sung by co-ed duet Trouble Maker, which disbanded in 2018 but was made up of HyunA and former BEAST member HyunSeung. The original choreography is considered quite sexy and spicy, which adds to the joke. However, they pulled off a cool performance. Hyuk and DoJin’s bromance is not only adorable but makes you want to laugh. They are so in sync that they sometimes get on each others’ nerves, but at the same time are so close that they have amazing banter. Fans have even been saying that the two are so funny, they deserve their own spin-off K-Drama. What do you think?
