However, one member in particular, Rocky, has time and again been referred to as being criminally underrated in the K-Pop community outside of the fandom. While a lot of that has changed now, to further Rocky supremacy agenda, keep reading for 10 solid reasons why everyone should stop sleeping on who I personally think is the ace of ASTRO, Rocky. 1. Jack of all trades, Master of them allThe first thing any new fan would notice in Rocky is his ineffable talent. Not only is Rocky the main dancer, earning him the nickname “Dancing Machine” but he’s also the choreographer for the group. One might as well call him a dragon because he spits fire with his verses when he raps. He’s an active producer for the group as well as a composer and songwriter. In a shocking, not-so-shocking twist, he’s also an incredible vocalist with one of the most impressive ranges in the industry. Is there anything this man can’t do? 2. Park MinHyukRocky draws a simple contrast between who he is on stage and who he is as a person. In other words, the artist and individual may be different identities for Rocky but they’re still coherent as one and the same self. In his own words, when he has make-up on, ready to be on stage, he’s Rocky. When he doesn’t and is more at ease, he’s Park MinHyuk. However, admittedly, he doesn’t reconstruct his own self to keep those identities separate. As such, what you see is what you get and there’s no contrition in the way he appears to fans, no manufactured personality or facade that he puts on, which one might assume is quite the case for idol culture in general. 3. A quiet and thoughtful charmRocky has the inherent ability to draw people in with his mysteriously quiet charm. He radiates a bright aura and is brimming with reliable energy. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Rocky is the steady backbone of the group. He often speaks in a composed and calm manner which is strangely appealing and sounds almost like ASMR. In addition, he’s unbelievably thoughtful. Remember when he signed “I love you. Thank you” during his first ever-ending fairy pose? We can never get over what an absolute sweetheart he is. 4. What Rocky wants, Rocky getsRocky is known for being immensely hard-working and determined. Once he puts his mind to something, he remains undeterred until he accomplishes his goals. As a matter of fact, he had his eyes on the prize ever since elementary school with two clear goals: Taekwondo and dance. By the time he was in the 5th grade, he had already auditioned, passed and trained for a musical following which he auditioned and signed with Fantagio. His motto seems to be, “If we’re working this hard, there’s no way we won’t make it” and that is truly the most adorable thing ever. After establishing himself as one of the best rappers and dancers in the industry, with an aim to becoming a multi-dimensional entertainer, he starred in “King of Masked Singer” where once again, he left the audience in awe. 5. A family personRocky’s dream to become a “world star” was inspired by his mother’s love and respect for Rain as he too, wanted to be someone who’s just as admired by his mother. The amount of unconditional love and support that his family showered upon him is reciprocated manifold with his hard work and sincerity. Rocky is also great with children, as AROHAs have seen on multiple occasions. After all, who can forget the time Rocky got called an ahjussi and he went on to sulk about it for the rest of the day. 6. It’s only a matter of time before he debuts as an actorRocky has been in the entertainment industry for a fairly longer time than most idols. Although technically, he has already made his acting debut through Fantagio’s “To Be Continued” but it is long overdue on national television. Rocky has an incredible sense of emotion and expression, which shines through in his performances. His portrayal of Jim Carrey from “The Mask”, arguably one of the hardest characters to play, was simply phenomenal on “Hit The Stage” and speaks volumes about his acting prowess. 7. Fashion KingAll idols have their personal stylists and designers working on them and with them for the majority of the time they’re in the public eye. As such, it is not uncommon for them to be transformed into fashion icons with all the latest trends in place. However, what is rare is an original and authentic sense of fashion. Rocky’s style is playful and experimental, creating trends rather than following them. He doesn’t cater to “rules” of fashion but instead, adds his own unique colour to every look. He also has the most adorable and sensible collection of high fashion mini-bags, cross-body bags, waist bags, and purses that he matches perfectly with his fits and pulls off with the ultimate elegance. 8. Comedy KingRocky undoubtedly has the most unique sense of humour in the group. Rather than being the kind to make jokes left and right, Rocky’s subtle sass and situational humour is truly underrated. His wit, presence of mind and ability to respond to anything and everything with a clever remark is enviable to say the least and he does it all with a straight face. You can’t help but hold your breath for what Rocky has to say and when you’re done, you’re left tongue-tied but laughing out loud. The chaotic energy is strong with this one. 9. Visual KingOne cannot simply compile a list of reasons to stan Rocky and not include his otherworldly visuals. Rocky’s features go beyond conventions or rather defy them in their charm. He has a sharp gaze and even sharper cheekbones. The feelings he emotes allow him to switch between dark visuals and warm, innocent ones as flawlessly as if he was changing outfits between performances. Finally, who wouldn’t melt before that billion-dollar smile? 10. He’s only getting startedFor someone who has had crystal clear goals ever since he was a wee child, it is but obvious that Rocky is highly ambitious and keen to keep growing. This is just the dawn of his brilliant legacy and Rocky is showing no signs of slowing down. It is going to be an absolutely masterful of a journey and you’re not going to want to miss out.
